I created this edition of prints to highlight the plight of the Red Squirrel native to Scotland. Habitate and the more dominant gray squirrel is endangering the more shy Reds.  I love both Red and Gray but I fear for  the  beautiful Red Squirrels possible demise from Scotland unless more work is done to protect them.   More information if interested at this web address   http://www.scottishsquirrels.org.uk/

Concept:Woman’s Work can be for many women very domestic which fills a big part of their day. Domestic tasks are essential to society but they are repetitive and mind numbing. Many women over the world do many repetitive tasks in their job and in the home, for their family and society. This Artist’s Print, depicting my Mum who has lived such a life...(she is now 81 years young) highlights this concept and the feeling of mental imprisonment which stifles women’s potential.
Created from: Clotheshorse/Photo/Photoshop/Drawing/Tracing/Inventing/ Transparencies/Photo Exposure/Print Bed/Satin Somerset Paper/Ink Main Objective:Highlight many women’s stifled potential because of repetitive domestic tasks.

Picture

Title 'Mum Imprisoned by Woman's Work' finalised and ready for trimming signature and edition.  Concept is Woman's Work which inhibits women from meeting their true potential.  My Mum wanted to be a film star...this may have been a big dream but her reality was a life of repetitive woman's work within Gray Dunn's Biscuit Factory and housework.....  This Silkscreen is to underline the importance of her contrubution to society and the importance of the millions of women who live their lives doing boring domestic work......where would we be without them?!

Picture

Almost finalised print....one more layer of detail around the nose area to do....This is my Mum as a young woman, who wanted to be glamorous like an actress the 'moovees'.  In reality she lived a life of repetitive woman's work in shops biscuit factory, mother and housework...........Created within Trongate 103 Glasgow Print Workshop.  Working title : Mum-Before a life of repetitive-Woman's Work.
